So at this stage we put the 318iS, Vectra 1, 106R and the transit to bed. Neil and BenH collected their respective camera(wo)men Diane and Jen, and gunned the Vectra and M3 towards Wales.
Leaving on Friday afternoon is always a gruelling experience. As Woking is within 50 miles of London, Friday evening rush hour seems to start at two in the afternoon. So we suffered Surrey's congested roads out towards the M4, turned right at Swindon and entered Wales via Hereford, arriving at the hotel in Lampeter by about 7:30pm.
Unfortunately there're no photos from the journey, as the two car convoy was often separated by other traffic on the Welsh A roads. It was a gros mis-match really, the M3 and the Vectra.
I've driven Ben's Vectra, and the lack of grunt is really quite frightening; overtaking is a downhill with the wind behind you only affair. So while Ben himself wasn't to blame for the lack of pace, it did make the journey a bit tiresome.
Still, eventually we got to Lampeter.
