The first time we met it got there before me; little did I know this was a concept I was going to have to get used to. It was a Bmw Car Magazine forum meeting at South Mimms, on the first of September 2002, and just one of the many Beemers present was this particular 2001 Imola Red 330d Tourer.

At the time I had very little interest in diesel cars. Diesel for freight, petrol for performance, was at this stage my belief. This view was reinforced later in the day, when after a short journey said vehicle had to be removed from our meeting (picture below) due to a major engine failure. I can't remember exactly what its fault was now, but at the time I certainly blamed forced induction.
To be honest, there were plenty of far more interesting vehicles and goings on at that meet, so by the time I was on my way home, I'd largely forgotten its failure.
